Circus!

With Ryan's parents getting into town yesterday, we had big plans to take the boys, his parents, and my parents to the circus. However, Danny has been sick with a double ear infection so my mom generously volunteered to stay home with him. So even though we didn't have our whole group there, we were still ready to have a good time. We got there early enough to go onto the circus floor and see the pre-show activities. Once the show started, the boys were completely silent. It was definitely loud and there was a lot going on! They liked the tigers, elephants and the motorcyles the best.....or possibly just going up and down the huge escalator at intermission. It was still fun just being there and pointing out everything to the boys.

(in the lobby while we were walking around....couldn't resist!)

What we've been up to....

Well, not all that much! So how have we been spending these long, snowy winter days inside? Let's see....

We've been playing super-hero with our awesome new capes from Aunt Dee and Uncle Paul. We love them!! Thank you so much!

Have you gotten more phone calls from us recently? The boys LOVE to dial the phone. I just tell them what numbers to press, and then they call everyone! Dylan was making a get-well phone call to Mom-Mom.

We've also been playing lots of games, like Hungry Hippos and Candy Land.

And of course reading books! Our favorite book right now is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and the boys know the entire book by heart. Here is Danny reading a little bit...

And playing basketball and soccer in the basement.

Andrew and Danny love to spin around in the basement

What would a day be without us doing the hot-dog dance a million times???

They love sliding down the stairs...

We've also been doing a lot of baking!

When you put it like that, I guess we have been busy! No wonder these guys are ready to pass out when it's bedtime!

Faschnaut Day!

The Brazilians have their Carnival. The Creoles, Mardi Gras. But did you know the Germans also have a tradition of unbridled indulgence leading into the Lent season? Legend has it that in order to use up traditional Lenten no no’s– namely sugar and lard– early German settlers fashioned the Faschnaut, a fried dough confection akin to our beloved donut. Faschnaut means “fast night.” In other words, the night when you stuff yourself silly with fried dough so that come Wednesday you'll feel so wretched that you'll welcome 40 days of denial (from examiner.com)

Donut day is here again! Pop went out early this morning and got our special donuts for us...and Uncle Joe delivered them to us. We ate our special treats after lunch today. Yum!!

Thanks Pop! Thanks Uncle Joe!
