....and causes problems for our whole neighborhood! We thought we were in the clear from Hurricane Irene, but around 5pm today we were all inside playing and heard a big cracking sound. Ryan ran outside and within a minute was back inside telling me to call 911, a tree had fallen in our backyard onto power lines. It started a small fire and the wires and transformer fell. The fire truck came, roped off the area, but couldn't do much else due to the electricity. So now the neighborhood is without power, we need to wait for a hugely backed-up PECO, and I took the boys to my parents house. Once PECO even comes (who knows how long that will be!) we are still going to have to wait for them to disable the wires, then get a tree person to cut down the tree off the wires, then they are going to have to rebuild the wires to get them back working again. Hmmm, not sounding too promising. Could have been worse though...so thankfully power lines were all it hit. More updates to come.....
This website will help keep all our family and friends up-to-date on news at the Carter house! We are glad you are sharing this adventure with us!

Pool time
We have lots of fun pools and sprinklers and today we decided to bring out the circle blue pool since we hadn't played in it for a while. What a blast! Danny, who does not like to get wet, decided to just help fill it up with the hose. Dylan and Andrew, however, were running to jump in and loved going down the slide. Danny did get a little wet, so we had to change (long-sleeved) shirts, but then we came back outside with our water squirters. Lots of laughs today!

97 Bus
We had a great adventure today! The boys have been seeing Septa buses and really wanted to ride one. So today we did! After doing a lot of research online, we all went to the top of the street and waited for the 97 bus. We took a great tour of Conshy and got off at the Metroplex. We had about 40 minutes before our bus came to take us back, so we walked to Target where everyone picked a pack of peanuts as a snack. (Momentous day for me---my cheapest Target visit ever!) We sat in the shade, ate some peanuts, then walked back to the bus stop to wait for our bus. Each bus was on time and each bus driver was super-nice. The boys had such a great time and couldn't wait til Dad got home to tell him what they did today. They were so proud! What an adventure! Yeah 97 Bus!

Ice-Cream treat
After all the rain we've been having it turned out to be a beautiful night! Ryan made it home on a little earlier train so we decided to take everyone for a little ice-cream cone! Danny decided to have some cookies instead, but Dylan and Andrew both opted for cones over cups and they really did a great job...eating more then they dripped.
