Yesterday we had to go out first thing in the morning and get a new Mickey. While having a new Mickey definitely helped calm everyone down, the whole day I was still asked a million times, "But where is the old Mickey?"
Fast forward to this morning, when we had to have a plumber come. The boys got excited thinking that the plumber was going to get Mickey out. I didn't have the heart to tell them that even if he DID get Mickey out, Mickey was not going to be coming back into our house. Turns out that was not even a problem....
The plumber snaked. And poked. And reached. No Mickey.
Finally, he had to take the entire toilet out to reach up from underneath. He put it outside in the front yard and continued to poke and reach. Still no Mickey. But he was confident that he was jammed in there somewhere.
Soon the boys figured out that there was a huge, gaping hole in the bathroom where the potty used to be...and had to go outside to check things out for themselves.
(By the way, yes, we might be the only people in the world to have a brown toilet--which made it even funnier that it was out on our lawn as our neighbors were driving by or walking their dogs past us.)
"Hey everyone check this out! The potty is OUTSIDE! That's so silly!"
"Yeah, I'm on the potty! Hi neighbors!"
Andrew said, "You mean this doesn't work out here?"
"Where is that Mickey anyway?"
Turns out, the plumber just couldn't get Mickey out. Which meant that Ryan had to go Lowes and get a whole new toilet.
So at the end of the day and $400 later, we said a final goodbye to Mickey AND to the brown potty. After this experience, I will definitely have to keep a more careful eye out to see what the boys are carrying into the bathroom!
