Settlement on our new house!

The day finally arrived....we made settlement on our new house! Ryan, his dad, and the dogs have been driving across country in the Tahoe, and pulled up to the house right in time for the pre-settlement home inspection this morning! We had no idea what to expect from the lady who was selling the house....through the whole process she has been extremely emotional. When we first made the offer back in August, she said she wasn't going to sell the house. It was only after a few weeks and some negotiations back & forth did she decide to move forward with the sale. Things have been quiet on her end for a while...then she asked twice if she could have more time in the house and move settlement out even farther (which we emphatically said NO to). Just recently, we found out that settlement got moved from the title company to her lawyer's office, and our agent told us that her agent called him and said she is really having second thoughts on selling at all (with settlement only days away!). Needless to say, I had no idea what we would find today---would she still have a million things in the house? Was it moved to her lawyers office because she wanted to back out???
So Ryan pulls up to the house and we head on in to see what we would find. Thankfully, it was empty and pretty clean.
She took the washer & dryer with her. Somehow when taking it all apart, a knob did not get turned off completely and we had quite a surprise when we went down below it in the basement! Water had dripped and dripped and made a huge mess in the ceiling.Ryan and our agent Chris checking it out....


She took the refrigerator.
She took all the toilet paper in the house.
She went around outside and took all her pots and left the plant stubs around! Here are some of the plants without pots she left behind!


Settlement went well and we got the keys! Yeah! We're changed & ready to clean!


Mackie & Lucy are confused but happy. They went from our house in California, to living at Ryan's parents house for 2 months, to living in a car for 4 days and random hotels, to a new house in Pennsylvania (and a big temperature drop!) They will have to get used to East Coast winters! I am so glad to have them back!!


The locksmith came today.
We ordered a new washer, dryer and refrigerator today. (delivered on tuesday)
Our POD came today! Ryan opened it up to see what things would look like after being in storage for 2 months and being driven across country...at first glance today things seemed ok (we'll see when we really get in there what condition things are in!)

My car gets delivered tomorrow. Comcast comes tomorrow. Carpet cleaners come tomorrow. Lots of CLEANING starting tomorrow, and hopefully by the late afternoon we can start unpacking the POD.
The boys spent today with my mom,both my grandmothers, and my cousin Christine while I was out to settlement. I will be driving back and forth until I get things organized at the new house. It's too crazy to bring the boys there to stay ...we need to get appliances in, things cleaned, things unpacked, things set up (cribs, toys, etc) and no use having the boys there until all those things are done. Ryan will stay at the new house with the dogs. We're still apart but things are certainly falling into place and we'll be together in the new house before we know it!!!
